Donald Cerrone Seems To Confirm Date For Conor McGregor Fight

The Notorious hasn't fought since he lost to Khabib Nurmagomedov in October and his next fight looks to be against the Cowboy.

Conor McGregor's return to UFC looks set to be at UFC 239 on July 6th in Las Vegas after his likely opponent Donald Cerrone posted a not so subtle hint on social media.

The last time Conor McGregor fought in UFC was in October at UFC 229 when he faced Khabib Nurmagomedov for the lightweight championship that he'd never lost.

Unfortunately on the night the undefeated Russian was the better man, tapping his opponent out in the fourth round, but that was only half the story with the other half coming after Khabib jumped into the crowd to attack a member of McGregor's team.

Since then the Eagle and the Notorious have both been fined and given six month suspensions from competing, starting back in October.

That means both men are able to start fighting again in April, however Khabib is unlikely to get back in the octagon until his teammates bans of a nine months and a year are over.

McGregor then will have to wait if any rematch is to take place but instead it's been heavily hinted that his next fight will be with Donald 'Cowboy' Cerrone.

Now the American has posted on Instagram with a bottle of Budweiser, the most American thing going, next to a bottle of McGregor's 'Proper Twelve' whiskey with the date 'July 6th' with it:

It's not the first time that the 35 year old, who has previously fought for the lightweight title unsuccessfully against Rafael dos Anjos, has hinted the fight is on.

Back in February he took to Instagram to say that the pair would fight for the interim title, a post that was liked by Dana White:

The UFC president last week rejected claims that the fight had already been agreed but with nothing announced for the July show and Cerrone hinting otherwise the shows main event may already be set.

Can McGregor get back to winning ways or will Cerrone earn himself another shot at the title?
