The UFC rivals could face again in 2020 but first the Irishman needs to beat Donald Cerrone on his return to the octagon.

Conor McGregor has added more fuel to the flames of his rivalry with Khabib Nurmagomedov before deleting the post on his Instagram story.

'No love lost' would be an understatement when it comes to McGregor and Khabib and their fight last October hasn't done anything to slow down the hatred they have for each other.

The Irishman returns to the octagon for the first time since his loss to the Russian over a year ago but he's also still concentrating on his rival by the looks of it. McGregor posted on his Instagram story with the caption 'Little scurrying rat I'm coming.'

The Notorious returns at UFC 246 on January 18th to face Donald Cerrone. Interestingly though the fight may not be a stepping stone to the Khabib rematch with the fight against 'Cowboy' at welterweight.

Even if he does win and then decide to drop back down to lightweight for another run at the title then the Dubliner will have to win quite a few more fights to face Khabib again, according to the Russian anyway.

Speaking recently about the possibility of running their October 2018 fight back the Eagle said, "As for a rematch, to fight for a belt in the UFC, I remember I had something like nine or 10 fights. If he wins 10 fights in a row, then that's completely possible."

Speaking last week the man from Dagestan hit out at both men involved in the fight in January and referred to the pair as 'minor league,' saying, "I think Cerrone has lost seven or eight of his last 10 fights and the other one (McGregor) is going into his fourth year with no victories.

"It's like the minor leagues - it really doesn't matter who wins there."

Khabib has his next fight to look forward to in April when he's due to finally face Tony Ferguson, for the lightweight title, at UFC 249 on April 18th.

The pair have been scheduled to meet on four previous occasions and for one reason or another the fight has fallen through late on.

McGregor may be hoping for an easy enough night against Cerrone and then getting himself down in weight for April, just in case.
