Aaron Chalmers Is Back In Training And Chasing A Fight With CM Punk

Aaron Chalmers Is Back In Training And Chasing A Fight With CM Punk

This article first featured on LADbible.

Geordie Shore star Aaron Chalmers teased fans with a mocked-up poster for a fight between himself and former WWE legend-turned not very good MMA fighter, CM Punk, back in October. And while it all looked very unlikely, the tattooed reality TV man revealed he's not ready to give up hope just yet.

The Toon TV star has reportedly left the show that made him famous to focus solely on his MMA career and he's taking aim at a Hollywood showdown with Punk.

Chalmers remains humble - something quite refreshing about that in MMA - even with three first-round wins under his belt.

Meanwhile, CM Punk was battered in his UFC debut and his future in the sport is on shaky ground.

Discussing the high-profile fight, Chalmers told Sun Sport: "Apparently he's still contracted to UFC. It'll be interesting to see if he has another fight early in the year.

"If he doesn't, I think Bellator might be looking to sign him. I'd love to do that fight later in the year."

If it doesn't work out, the Geordie Shore lad has another opponent in mind, in the shape of Kevin Ferguson, the son of MMA and street-fighting legend Kimbo Slice.

He told Sun Sport: "There's another fighter, Baby Slice - Kimbo Slice's son - which I think would be a hellish fight.

"He's had three fights and I'll have had three. We're both quite new to the game this year so it's another fight that could make sense.

Despite his involvement in a sport which is based so heavily around posturing, Chalmers is the first to admit that he's not good enough to challenge for titles.

However, he says that he is still determined to put on massive shows for his fans.

"I take every fight as it comes. I'm not looking to win belts because I'm not good enough.

"I'm looking to see how far I can go. I do it for myself and I like to test myself."

Despite not being the worst fighter out there, Chalmers is under no illusion that there are a lot of people out there who want to see him get his arse kicked in the octagon.

"I'll be honest, no one is going to be happy until I get beat," he revealed in an interview with Metro.co.uk. "That's the bottom line, no one will be happy until I get beat. But obviously I'm going to get beat.

"People think once I get beat that will be the end of it. People thought I was going to have one fight. At the end of the day, people can say whatever they want. Just because you comment on a picture, tweet us or whatever - you're arguing with yourself.

"Even when I lose, people won't be happy. They won't be happy until I leave MMA. I don't really care what people think. If they concentrated on their career as much as they did mine then maybe they'd be on BAMMA themselves."
