Nate Diaz is so relaxed ahead of his UFC return that he decided to spark up a joint at an open workout on Wednesday night.

The 34-year-old will take on Anthony Pettis in the co-main event at UFC 241 after almost three years out of action.

Stockton-born Diaz appeared in the shape of his life during last night's open workout at the Honda Center Arena, California.

He was cool, calm and collected to the point where he decided to light a joint during the session.

Diaz even passed the joint to his videographer, according to ESPN, who then passed it to fans on the front row.

He was heard saying "I said pass it around. It's good etiquette, for sure."

The fighter did, however, confirm later on in the night that the joint was CBD, which is legal in- and out-of-competition in the UFC's anti-doping policy.

Here's a clip of those in the front row smoking the CBD joint during the workout.

Of course, Diaz's last bout was his loss against McGregor at UFC 202 in August 2016 when the Irishman won a close decision.

It was a fight he thought he should have won.

"I should have beaten his a**e and been on my way, but I have morals and said let's do it again then. Some people don't have that and that's why they're not real fighters." he told ESPN:

"[If I was Conor], I wouldn't be able to sleep at night; he got smashed in his face and choked in front of everyone.

"He got his rematch like a spoiled little baby then came back and won a little decision that could have gone either way.

"I don't even care if it's a big decision, it's not the same; you can't be content with a decision, you got choked on your face.

"Time will tell but I think we will fight again."
