UFC fighter Stephen Thompson gave YouTuber Houston Jones a brutal demonstration of just how deadly leg kicks are in MMA.

Jones, who has 1.43million subscribers, was in the gym with 'Wonderboy' and dared him to show off his world-class striking.

Thompson, a two-time UFC welterweight title challenger and an undefeated former full-contact amateur and professional kickboxer, was happy to oblige.

He starts by kicking the 100 pound kicking bag before striking Jones through a kicking shield - still causing some serious pain and putting him on the deck despite the padding.

Then, with no protection whatsoever, Thompson continues to progress with the leg kicks to Jones' thigh and each one left him wincing even more than the previous.

The one at "45 per cent force" leaves him in a heap but Thompson had more brutality in store for him. The sheer whipping noise of him delivering wicked kicks to the hamstring was one thing but the damage done was another level completely.

Marks on Jones' legs very quickly started to form during the initiation and they were in a right state a week and a half later.

His thighs and hamstrings are heavily bruised as though he'd been whipped by a rope - with Thompson's prediction of him "not being able to walk for the next few weeks" probably not far off.

Jones, who is in solid physical condition himself, was still no match for the powerful and efficient striking from a black belt kickboxer and one of the best in the business.

The video has garnered over 700,000 views since it was posted on YouTube on 6 November and came with a very important "do not try this at home" warning.

It's easy to see just why leg kicks are so effective in breaking down an opponent and maintaining control inside the Octagon.
