Dana White Reacts To Jorge Masvidal And Nate Diaz's Controversial Ending At UFC 244

Dana White believes that it was the right decision for the cageside doctor to pull Nate Diaz from his clash with Jorge Masvidal at UFC 244.

UFC president Dana White has insisted that he always wants a "definitive, spectacular finish" to a fight after the controversial ending to UFC 244.

Nate Diaz stepped into the octagon with Jorge Masvidal for their blockbuster clash for the BMF title at Madison Square Garden in New York.

UFC star Masvidal, 34, picked up a victory over the American Diaz in the third round due to the cageside doctor calling an end to the fight.

The 34-year-old Diaz suffered two nasty cuts -- one on his cheek and the other on his eyebrow -- and was pulled from the fight due to the extent of his injuries.

And UFC chief White said he understood how fans could feel disappointed with how the hotly anticipated headline clash ended.

"You know, obviously when you put on an event you want a definitive, spectacular finish -- you know things like that," he told The Sports Network's Aaron Bronsteter.

"But you don't get it all the time and tonight was [a] big night, it was a good night and it was a good fight between two tough, durable guys and these things happen."

When he was asked if the fight would have continued if it was held in Las Vegas, White responded: "It would have. Yeah. It definitely would have."

White then brought up how Tyson Fury was allowed to continue fighting against Otto Wallin in September, despite sustaining a horrific cut above his right eye in the third round.

He explained: "And when the fight first ended I was like, 'C'mon, man, you guys didn't stop the Tyson Fury fight,' but it wasn't these guys, it was those guys over in Vegas.

"And yeah, I thought the fight should have gone on.

"I just went over and saw Nate Diaz in the other room over there and I was looking at him and going, 'Hmm, maybe the fight shouldn't have gone on.'

"You know, his eyebrow is flopped over like this and he's got another cut underneath the eye and it's like really easy for me to jump up and say, 'This is some b******t,' you know while I am sitting in my comfortable chair at the side of the octagon and my eyebrow isn't flipped over my eyeball.

"So, yeah, it probably should have been stopped."

White admitted to the media after the clash that he has 'no interest' in setting up a rematch between Diaz and Masvidal.

But Diaz has demanded a rematch with Masvidal and launched a scathing attack on UFC and White in his post-fight press conference.
