When Jon Jones Lashed Out At A Journalist For Quizzing Him Over Drug Test Controversy

Jon Jones launched a scathing attack on a Swedish reporter after she probed him on his drug test controversy ahead of the second Alexander Gustafsson fight.

The 32-year-old was initially scheduled to face Gustafsson in Las Vegas at UFC 232 for the light heavyweight championship.

But the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) found abnormalities in Jones' drug test and refused him a licence to fight.

UFC made the incredible decision to move the event from Nevada to California on six days' notice.

Jones, who denied any wrongdoings, didn't take too kindly to a reporter quizzing him about his past controversy with drug tests.

'Bones' refused to answer Izabelle Kostic's question and simply responded: "Next question, please. Thank you."

The crowd in the room erupted and the Swedish reporter turned her attention to UFC president Dana White.

She asked the UFC chief why the MMA star didn't receive a "two-year suspension like Frank Mir."

White didn't hear her clearly and later claimed that he didn't understand her question, but he didn't have time to respond.

Jones wasted no time in intervening and lashed out at Kostic for persistently exploring his checkered history with drugs.

He shouted: "Sit down. Take the mic [from] her, better questions, better journalism. Is there a real journalist? You suck."

The NSAC found traces of turinabol in Jones' drug test, which was the same substance that he had tested positive for in 2017.

The UFC legend was stripped of the light heavyweight championship he won in his clash with fierce rival Daniel Cormier and the result was overturned to a no contest.

Jones offered an apology to fans over UFC 232 being moved due to his problems with the US Anti-Doping Agency.

But 'Bones' defended his position and said that he was "almost wronged in this situation."

He explained: "Even though a lot of fans got hurt in this situation, we saved the event.

"Look at all the people that got to be here, all the people that are planning on ordering the fight around the world.

"The organisation is doing everything they can to make it right. Changing the event instead of cancelling the event is the way of making this right.

"This probably shouldn't have even been brought up. It's such a small amount that it has no effect.

"I think the professionals, whether it's USADA or the UFC are realising, 'Jon is kind of like a guinea pig in this situation.'

"I was almost wronged in this situation. Even though [the substance] was in me, I think this is a way of fixing a wrong and making it right again by not cancelling this fight."

Jones would successfully defeat Gustafsson in their rematch by securing a TKO victory in the third round.
