A UFC fighter is so pumped for his upcoming bout that he has signed his fight agreement using his own blood.

Australian Jake Matthews, who is 15-4 in MMA, is taking on Norwegian Emil Meek at UFC Fight Night 169 in Auckland, New Zealand.

The 25-year old had the official document sent through to make the fight happen but instead of signing on the dotted line using a pen, 'the Celtic Kid' elected to smother his own blood on the paper.

Welterweight Matthews' last fight was a unanimous decision victory over Rostem Akman at UFC 234 in October and he has lost just once in his last five bouts.

Meek, meanwhile, hasn't been seen in the Octagon since he lost out to Bartosz Fabinski at UFC Fight Night 134 back in July 2018.

Prior to that, he was beaten on points by Kamaru Usman on the UFC Fight Night 124 card in January 2018.

In even bigger news in the welterweight division, Conor McGregor will make his long-awaited UFC return at 170lbs against Donald 'Cowboy' Cerrone at UFC 246 on January 18.

UFC president Dana White revealed the news on Thursday night, saying that McGregor has signed the deal and that Cerrone is also 'ready to go'.
