Throwback to when Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov were pals.

Following his devastating UFC 219 victory, Nurmagomedov is now on the hunt for UFC gold. Eyeing up fights against either Tony Ferguson (interim champion), or the full champion, McGregor.

The Dagestani-destroyer recorded his 25th professional victory after beating the living shit out of top contender Edson Barboza.

He was making his first Octagon trip of 2017 following a year blighted with injuries and weigh-in mishaps.

Despite his impressive showing, McGregor wasn't impressed.

The Irishman began 2018 with a couple of typically outrageous posts including responding to Nurmagomedov's performance.

"That Dagestani was dog shit the other night you's are all nuts. Game full of sloppy bums asking to be slept. Pay me my worth and Kings back," he posted.

Naturally, the unbeaten lightweight contender fired back with a couple of hilarious Tweets.

It's a far cry from a few years ago.

Nurmagomedov was a fan of McGregor's customized t-shirts, while the latter even offered his services as showed in their Twitter exchange from 2014.

How times have changed.

Everyone is hoping McGregor makes his anticipated return to the cage, with Nurmagomedov an ideal opponent.

The clash of styles, the beef, would make for an entertaining build-up, and, ultimately, an intriguing fight.

Here's hoping UFC delivers McGregor vs. Nurmagomedov in 2018. Make it happen, Dana.
