Eddie Bravo says going into Tony Ferguson's corner during UFC 249 at the end of round four to talk to the fighter "was a mistake" in a shocking revelation.

Bravo described the frantic state of Ferguson's corner for his interim-UFC lightweight title clash with Justin Gaethje in a recent episode of Joe Rogan's podcast.

He admitted that the corner was completely unorganised and says he was surprised when Ferguson's striking coach asked him to speak to 'El Cucuy' in between rounds four and five.

"Right when the bell rang after the fourth round, Rashad turns around and goes 'Eddie get In there' and I wasn't ready for it man! He told Rogan on the Joe Rogan Experience.

"This is the fourth round and he's [Tony Ferguson] hurt. I didn't realise how cut up he was until I walked up to him.

"I was like 'Okay I'm supposed to give him advice?' It was a mistake for me to go in there. It was a mistake for sure."

Ferguson's jiu-jitsu coach added: "I'm going in there and at this point, he's hurt and cut up. A lot of things are swirling through my head and I'm thinking 'What is the best advice here?' And it's so quiet! And it was just so weird.

"I walk in and the first thing I notice is he's cut up more than I could see from my vantage point. Maybe the best thing to do then was to stay on the outside and get through this with no more damage. I froze."

Of course, Ferguson suffered a crushing defeat at UFC 249 as he was stopped in the final round by Gaethje, who claimed the interim-UFC lightweight title.

The 36-year-old had his 12-fight winning streak snapped on May 9 as he ponders his next move with Khabib Nurmagomedov's manager Ali Abdelaziz calling on him to quit MMA.
