The biggest bet in MMA history was placed in the main event of UFC 250 last night.

An unnamed punter from Las Vegas placed an incredible $1 million (around £800,000) bet on dominant UFC women's featherweight and bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes to add Felicia Spencer to her long list of victims inside the Octagon.

Nunes was the overwhelming favourite, 13/2 in fact - and picked up the unanimous decision victory after five brutal rounds at the UFC Apex facility.

And it meant that one man raked in £130,000 as a result. It was an incredibly ballsy bet, but the punter had total faith in the Brazilian doing the business and it ultimately paid dividends.

The slip was placed with William Hill, who told ESPN's Ben Fawkes that it was the largest bet on an MMA event in history.

Nunes was also made aware of the huge sum post-fight, branding it "awesome" and joking she should be treated for delivering the goods.

"Now he's very happy," Nunes said.

"He'll probably, like, go and drink something. He should ask me to go with him."

The 32-year old, now on an 11-fight winning streak, collected a reported $450,000 disclosed purse - including a $100,000 win bonus.
