Lyoto Machida was responsible for one of the greatest knockouts in recent memory last night when he put away Victor Belfort in devastating fashion.

The two Brazilians met in a Middleweight clash on the undercard of UFC 224, where Amanda Nunes successfully defended her Women's Bantamweight Championship against Raquel Pennington in Rio de Janiero.

And it was 39-year old Machida who emerged victorious courtesy of a stunning front kick that sent compatriot Belfort into retirement in round two.

No ground and pound needed, the kick was so clean that Belfort was done and dusted.

The dominant display was the former Light Heavyweight Champion's second win this year, following on from a split decision victory over Eryk Anders back in February.

Machida, who is now 24-8 in MMA, recreated his famous KO to Randy Couture in the Brazilian capital, while it was a familiar sight for Belfort, who was memorably on the receiving end of a brutal front kick from Anderson Silva many moons ago at UFC 126 in 2011.

Belfort retired on 26-14 after the fight, while Machida called out Michael Bisping and says he can't retire until they've slugged it out.
