Jorge Masvidal has taken a brutal shot at the trash-talking Colby Covington after he suffered a broken jaw against Kamaru Usman.

Covington, 31, clashed with the UFC welterweight champ at UFC 245 on Saturday in Las Vegas and sustained the devastating injury in the third round.

Usman, 32, connected with a huge punch in the round that left his American rival to tell his corner the extent of the injury.

And now Masvidal, 35, took to Twitter to send out a 'jaw-dropping' dig at his heated rival.

The UFC star tweeted: "They say never kick a man when he is down but you not a man.

"Should've paid my coach, it's cheaper than getting your jaw wired shut #thecrucifixation."

Former interim welterweight champ Covington intensified his rivalry with BMF champ Masvidal when he branded him "Street Judas" ahead of his clash with Usman.

But Masvidal pulled no punches towards Covington as he slammed him in two brutal posts on social media.

Usman managed to retain his championship after he made his breakthrough against Covington in the final round.

The 'Nigerian Nightmare' dropped his opponent twice and dominated Covington when he was on the floor with a flurry of strikes.

Referee Marc Goddard sprung into action and called off the fight to hand Usman a stunning late TKO victory.

During the UFC 245 post-fight press conference, Dana White admitted that a clash between Usman and Masvidal would be "massive."

The UFC president explained: "It's massive. So think about this: how many times have we sat in this room, we did the lead-up to this big grudge match, these two guys hate each other going into the fight and then I'm sitting here going, 'And that fight sucked.'

"How many grudge matches have actually been incredible fights? I say none. Maybe one I'm forgetting about, but they all pretty much suck.

"This grudge match was awesome, two guys in their prime who are at the top of the game, and the fight was the 'Fight of the Night' in an incredible card.

"Yeah, the Masvidal fight vs Usman, it's a big deal. He fought [Nate] Diaz for the 'BMF' belt and now to fight for the actual title against the guy who's tough as nails, it's fun."
