The Time Conor McGregor Sparred With 'The Mountain' From Game Of Thrones
Remember when Conor McGregor sparred with Game Of Thrones' The Mountain, AKA Hafthor Julius Bjornsson?
Bjornsson towered over him at a staggering 6ft 8in but Conor stood his ground and tried his best to move the beast.
How did 'Notorious' find his sparring session, though?
"That's a big man! Six-foot-9, 400 pounds, and I still folded him up. I was hitting him with some shots - I had to hit him with some shots. He was hitting me, trying to hit me as well." McGregor told MMA Junkie.
"People say 'Oh, he was taking it easy.' He tried to grab me and tried to pull my head off and I defended - freed the head. I was like, 'this motherf*cker is so big, I have to start smacking him a few to the body."
For Conor, this was mostly a promotional exercise to hype up for his fight against Jose Aldo, but you know what Conor is like, he started running his mouth at Björnsson after the fact.
He said: "It was a lot of fun. That's a big man - 6-foot-9, 400 pounds. And I still folded him up."
Well, it turns out that huge Icelandic bodybuilders also have quite a long memory and an easily bruised pride.
He didn't like the idea that Conor was saying that he beat him in what he presumably thought was a joke fight. Conor barely comes up to his chest, for Christ's sake.
The Mountain, perhaps understandably, thinks that there wouldn't be that much of a fight between him and 'The Notorious' McGregor.
Bjornsson spoke about a potential bout with the Irishman and well, he thinks it would over in 10 seconds.
"Bring me shorts and put us in a cage, and I'll fight him again," Bjornsson told YouTube channel Off the Ball. "If I get a grab on him, it'll be over in 10 seconds."
I wouldn't mess with this Mountain, that's for sure.
