This would be huge.

It's the fight everyone wants to see but as it stands, Nate Diaz appears non-committal to a trilogy bout against old foe Conor McGregor.

The Stockton-born Welterweight is, however, open to the possibility of a showdown against the Irish fighter, although he's in no rush to make it happen.

In 2016, McGregor met Diaz at UFC 196 when the American pulled off a shock victory by submission with 48 seconds left in the second round.

Five months later at UFC 202, 'Notorious' won by decision in one of the fights of the year.

But will we ever see these two great fighters go head-to-head again?

"Maybe, maybe not, I don't know what's next." Diaz told MMA Junkie ahead of his fight against Jorge Masvidal this weekend.

"I'm going to do what I'm going to do. We'll see what's going to happen in the future. Like I said before, when the stars line up. I don't know what's next. I'm going to try to make this fight happen the way it's supposed to happen, and we'll go from there.

"Whatever is going to happen in the future is going to happen in the future.

"They play me like I was sitting there waiting for that fight forever, but I wasn't. I would have liked it immediately. But when it wasn't immediate, I was like, 'What? Am I going to chase you around?' I don't give a f***.

"If he wanted it and we were going to fight, then we were going to fight. But if it's going to happen, it's going to play out like it's going to play out."

Someone who appears to be interested in the trilogy is McGregor.

He confirmed back in February this year that he would give Nate Diaz a rematch to complete what would become one of the greatest trilogy fights of all time.

The Irish fighter told the UFC to book the bout against Diaz for UFC 237 on May 12 at Arena da Baixada in Curitiba, Brazil.

He said the following on Twitter: "Book it. I'll fight Nate on it."

Do you think these two fighters should go at it for the third time sooner rather than later?
