YouTuber Logan Paul experienced a tough start to MMA training after UFC fighter Paulo Costa knocked him out cold.

The 25-year-old American star has a background in wrestling and has previously featured in a professional boxing bout against fellow YouTuber and rival KSI.

But Paul has expressed his desire to enter the MMA world and enlisted the help of Costa for a sparring session at the UFC Performance Institute in March.

Costa, who is undefeated in his MMA career, made light work of the internet superstar in the ring when he nailed him with a powerful right.

And Paul immediately crashed to the canvas and was swarmed by those at ringside to check that he was okay.

The YouTuber said in his video: "This morning we came here to the UFC Performance Institute. Apparently, they want me to spar a guy by the name of Paulo Costa.

"He's not a human, he's a bear -- he's a 13-and-0 undefeated UFC fighter.

"I don't think he liked the way I looked at him at dinner last night or something -- but it's a good thing I'm a professional boxer now who's 0 and 1, goddammit.

"They put the headgear on me, not him. That's how you now I'm f****d."

While Paul put in a disappointing performance in sparring, he proved to be a worthy challenger for Costa in a wrestling contest.

Paul, who competed in high school wrestling, locked horns with the Brazilian MMA fighter and impressed Costa's trainer.

Costa's trainer told him afterwards: "You're gonna do MMA for sure. You know how to fight."

Paul also received warm words of encouragement from Costa, who praised him for both his "hard spirit" and "big heart."

He told Paul: "Ninety per cent of guys who go to train MMA have good technique, but not hard spirit, not big heart you know. You have both."
