Polyana Viana has hit out at UFC star Colby Covington over his "revolting" sexually-charged comments after he turned down the Leon Edwards fight.

The 28-year-old Brazilian MMA fighter has denied that she was in a relationship with Covington, despite speculation surrounding the pair's alleged romantic involvement.

Viana posed alongside Covington on Instagram earlier this month as the two UFC fighters appeared cosy during a training session.

Covington rejected the opportunity to face Edwards, who fought against Belal Muhammad at UFC Fight Night 187 earlier this month.

When he was asked why he didn't take the Edwards fight, the 33-year-old welterweight made shocking comments about Viana.

"There wasn't much talks [for the Edwards fight]," Covington told Submission Radio.

"I was busy, balls deep in Polyana Viana, so to get me off the couch on three weeks' notice to fight some Leon guy, it was going to have to be a price tag."

Covington added that he didn't claim to be Viana's boyfriend, but he didn't rule out any romantic engagement with Viana.

When asked about the rumours, 'Chaos' responded: "Everybody's going to have to use their imagination on that one.

"I'm not claiming to be her boyfriend, but what's up with titles these days?

"Why does there have to be a title? Why can't two adults just have fun together?"

Viana, who has previously insisted that she was only friends with Covington, took to social media to blast the UFC star and said she feels "sorry for those who act so low to try to promote themselves."

The UFC fighter tweeted: "I have never given room for any kind of comment or judgment about my personal life.

"But it is not for me to judge the person's attitude. I feel sorry for those who act so low to try to promote themselves. It is revolting."

Covington hasn't fought inside the octagon since his TKO victory over Tyron Woodley at UFC Fight Night 178 last September.
