Nate Diaz has had his say following on from Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov throwing shade at each other on Twitter.

Waiting a couple of days after UFC 249, McGregor decided to go in on both Justin Gaethje and the Irishman's bitter rival Khabib with some brutal tweets that may well have gone too far.

Diaz, meanwhile, who won one and lost one against McGregor at welterweight, got involved with a couple of salty tweets.

The Stockton Slugger had a brief back and forth with McGregor on Dana White's Instagram prior to the behind-closed-doors show in Jacksonville on Saturday night, with the Notorious telling him to "shut your eye lid and sign the contract".

Fans thought it was fuelling talk of a huge trilogy fight but UFC president White played it down, stating they don't like one another and were just "talking sh*t to each other".

There's not liking one another and then there's the long-running animosity between McGregor and Khabib.

Last night, in some tweets which were then deleted, McGregor called out the lightweight champion for a photo of the Russian in what seems to be a hot tub with friends.

Having responded with a picture of him forcing McGregor to tap out at UFC 229, he then followed up by asking if McGregor was drunk-tweeting in relation to his 'hug legs' comment, before posting another picture of him from their encounter inside the Octagon.

Interim champion Gaethje is next in line for Khabib but the rematch with McGregor, given the sheer hatred the two have for one another, simply has to happen.
