Cain Velasquez has revealed that Dana White gave his blessing for him to join WWE as he's set to make his promotional debut at Crown Jewel against Brock Lesnar.

Before officially signing a lucrative contract with WWE, Velasquez made a phone call to White who supported the Mexican-American's wrestling ambition.

The UFC president thanked Velasquez for his services and offered his full blessing to the former UFC heavyweight champion.

"We ended up talking on the phone," Velasquez said. "He just supported me 100 percent. It was just a good, respectful talk that we had. He thanked me for everything that I did. I thanked him and the company for everything that they did.

"He just gave me his full blessing. He said, 'This is awesome, what you're doing. Go ahead, you have my full consent to go ahead and do what you want to do.'"

Velasquez's former American Kickboxing Academy teammate Daniel Cormier is a big fan of his wrestling venture and WWE's newest star has teased a potential tag team match in the future.

"We've talked here and there. He loves what I'm doing," he added. "But, yeah, we've been keeping in touch. It's just kind of crazy this road that I've gone into. It's been such a short amount of time, but I've had a goal in mind of what I want to do in this sport.

"'DC' loves it. He's a big fan. That wouldn't surprise me (to see us tag team)."

Following months of flirtation, Velasquez has officially retired from UFC to pursue a career in wrestling after signing a multi-year deal with WWE.

He has been removed from the UFC heavyweight rankings as well as the UFC's United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) drug-testing pool.

Velasquez will face Lesnar on October 31 at Crown Jewel in his first official WWE contest.
