Justin Gaethje aimed a ruthless dig at Conor McGregor's skills as a father and husband which prompted the Irishman's fierce Twitter tirade.

McGregor waited until Monday to react to UFC 249 which saw Gaethje beat Tony Ferguson to claim the interim-UFC lightweight title.

'The Notorious' pulled no punches during a scathing social media rant as he took a swipe at all of his UFC rivals including the newly minted interim-lightweight champion.

He blasted 'The Highlight' who slammed him after the Dublin man called for a showdown against Khabib Nurmagomedov back in September.

"You're a tool. You have lost everything already. You are a shit human, father, and husband. F**k you," Gaethje wrote in response to McGregor asking for a rematch in Moscow.

McGregor took offence to Gaethje's father claim as he threatened to "f**king butcher" him.

"Justin, there is no danger in a man that hugs legs, we all know. Try and dance around what the real threat is here all you want. I am going to f**king butcher you. Your teeth. I'm going to put them on a f**king necklace. Speak on my skills as a father? You are f**king dead," McGregor angrily wrote on Twitter.

Gaethje, meanwhile, became a huge player in the 155lbs division after stopping Ferguson in the main-event of UFC 249 last weekend.

And he's ready to face Nurmagomedov, but also expressed a desire to face the former double UFC champion in Ireland.

"Khabib is the best in the world. I've been working since I was four for challenges like this," he said.

"And I'm happy to represent the United States of America versus Dagestan or Russia's best.

"He's 28-0 and there's no other challenge I want right now. I want to fight him.

"Then I'll go to Ireland and do what I got to do."
