Conor McGregor Slides Down UFC's Latest Pound-For-Pound Rankings With Jon Jones Still Top

Conor McGregor has slipped down the pound-for-pound rankings following last weekend's Fight Night 164 event in Brazil.

The UFC updated their official rankings on Tuesday afternoon, confirming that the Irish fighter has moved down two places in the list.

Former two-division world champion Daniel Cormier has also been overtaken in the light heavyweight rankings by Thiago Santos.

So how do these rankings work? They are generated by a voting panel made up of media members, according to UFC.

The media members were asked to vote for who they feel are the top fighters in the UFC by weight-class and pound-for-pound.

A fighter is only eligible to be voted on if they are in active status in the UFC. A fighter can appear in more than one weight division at a time.

The champion and interim champion are considered to be in the top positions of their respective divisions and therefore are not eligible for voting by weight-class. However, the champions can be voted on for the pound-for-pound rankings.
