Conor McGregor believes fans were "robbed of a classic" between Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal on Saturday night.

'The Stockton Slugger' suffered two deep cuts on the right side of his face in the opening round, which led to the doctor stoppage in his main-event bout at UFC 244.

Masvidal opened a cut on Diaz after landing a slashing elbow, and the gash continued to worsen throughout the bout as blood poured from Diaz's face.

The cageside doctor checked over his cut in between round three and four and called a halt to the contest as 'Gamebred' won the BMF belt via TKO.

Plenty of people have had their say on the matter, including Diaz, who was surprised by the stoppage.

"I didn't think they were going to stop it. I was just getting ready to get started." he told Joe Rogan in his post-fight interview.

"He got the job done like he was supposed to so right on to Jorge for what he did. But I'm coming back for your ass, motherf*cker. Let me heal up and let's go again."

A day later and Conor McGregor has given his thoughts on the incident.

UFC doctor Dr. Greg Hsu posted a video of himself alongside 'The Stockton Slugger' on social media.

The Irish fighter responded by saying a crucial moment of repair was missed between rounds one and two.

He also indicated that "cutmen in the corner must be more assertive when a fighter must stay still."

"Excellent job Greg." he wrote on Twitter. "Robbed of a classic there we were. Cutmen in the corner must be more assertive when a fighter must stay still. Between rounds 1 and 2 a crucial moment of repair was missed due to movement.

"Either way, solid fighting and onto the next... Me."

McGregor also called out Jorge Masvidal shortly after the above post, referencing 'Gamebred's' comments after a backstage fight with Leon Edwards at UFC Fight Night 147 in March this year.

"You are what you are, you're just a loser in life, man," Masvidal said when talking about Edwards via ESPN.

"You're not going to get a hit off on me. So I had to give him the three piece with the soda and then just glide out of there, you know? And then some of his friends tried to sucker punch me, those guys did a big mistake."
