One Of The Biggest Grudge Matches In UFC History Agreed For September

A blockbuster grudge match between Tyron Woodley and Colby Covington is set to headline a UFC event in September.

Verbal agreements are in place for Woodley, 38, to fight Covington, 32, in September with a date yet to be determined.

But the long-awaited clash between former teammates has a target date of September 19 in Las Vegas at the UFC Apex.

Former UFC welterweight champion Woodley took to social media to reveal that he's in training camp for Covington.

On Instagram, he wrote: "Champ Camp in Session! September 19th CockRoach Covington Gets Squashed!"

In the video, he says: "So, Sept. 19, you guys this is the first time I have said it right here. Sept. 19, me and Colby Covington headlining a UFC card, APEX, get it in.

"You heard it here first. Go and tell everybody. I've been trying to fight this dude for two years. Now it's time. I'm motivated, I feel good."

The intense rivalry between Woodley and Covington stretches back many years following a stint together as training partners at American Top Team.

Their relationship turned sour when Covington went on a public campaign against Woodley in hopes of securing a UFC title shot.

Covington had previously said that his beef with Woodley is "beyond personal."

In April, 'Chaos' said: "This fight is multiple years in the making. This fight is beyond personal. There is a serious beef between me and Tyron Woodley, and it needs to be settled."

Woodley is currently on a two-fight losing skid, having lost to Kamaru Usman and Gilbert Burns.

Covington, on the other hand, hasn't fought since his devastating defeat to Usman at UFC 245 last December.
