Conor McGregor's Coach Wants UFC To Book A Lightweight Tournament
Conor McGregor's coach John Kavanagh has appeared to propose a blockbuster UFC lightweight tournament to be completed by this year.
The coronavirus outbreak has caused havoc on the UFC lightweight division with the global pandemic preventing Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Tony Ferguson then Ferguson vs. Justin Gaethje from happening.
And Kavanagh has figured out a way to resolve the mess and it includes a mini-lightweight tournament.
Twitter account MMA History Today posted the following message in wake of the cancellation of UFC 249.
"When the UFC resumes, there's 2 fights that need to be made: Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Tony Ferguson [&] Conor McGregor vs. Justin Gaethje."

The semi finals could feasibly take place in August with the winners of each bout meeting in November/December to crown an undisputed UFC lightweight champion.

Kavanagh recently confirmed that his star fighter will be returning to action very soon.
"There is going to be a fight in three months' time. I think you would be shocked by some of the names that come across the table," he told Ariel Helwani.
"I just say, 'Look guys, that's your world.' Audie, Paradigm and Conor are so good at that, at planning, strategy and negotiating, that I just say, 'Yeah, give me a date when it comes.'"
When asked about a potential clash with Gaethje, Kavanagh replied: "Yeah [fighting Gaethje in July] was one of the ones that was being talked about. That was right up there."
