Conor McGregor aimed a dig at fierce rival Khabib Nurmagomedov after praising Tony Ferguson for making weight.

Ferguson was still cutting weight despite the cancellation of UFC 249, which was supposed to happen this weekend in California.

He tipped the scales at the championship weight of 155lbs on Friday even though he's no longer fighting on Saturday.

And McGregor took to social media to react to the American's effort.

"Congrats on an excellent victory @TonyFergusonXT!! Now let's have the other guy on the scale please," he tweeted.

The Irishman then composed another tweet: "Hahahajaj. You will be bet to the absolute nucleus pulposus when I get you, kid," he wrote accompanied with a picture of Ferguson right after making weight.

Ferguson, meanwhile, issued a peaceful statement in wake of UFC 249 being shut down.

"You know what? I'm sure it's for a good reason," he said.

"Let's be real. I gotta keep the faith. I gotta keep this... f**k... keep this small circle close, bro, and just keep focusing on what we can control, which is our heart rate and our breathing.

"The constant is things are always gonna change. The variable is how am I gonna react to it? So we could throw that variable, baby, and we make that the constant.

"Which is why I'm gonna keep smiling, I'm gonna keep training, and you know what? I'm gonna put on some muscle. Dude, I'm skinny. I'm gonna put on some muscle. I'm gonna try my best. I'm gonna do it. I'm gonna try my best. If I fall, I'll get back up."
