Jorge Masvidal's willing to give Ben Askren a rematch if he's still "alive".

Masvidal annihilated Askren with a devastating knee in the opening five seconds of their welterweight bout at UFC 239, and he's prepared to run it back. If he's still alive that is.

A fan asked the veteran fighter during a Q&A if he's down to rematching Askren to which he replied by saying: "If he's still alive, yes."

Masvidal's on a two-fight win streak after beating Darren Till and Askren in destructive fashion.

He's now in line to fight for UFC gold, and for that, Askren wants credit.

"I will acknowledge that I made him this popular. I brought the best in him, so it's fine, it's part of the game," the ex-Bellator champion said.

"We were the most anticipated fight by far on the biggest card of the year. And it definitely wasn't because Jorge decided not to show up to two different press events. It was because I made it that way.

"Jorge can say I'm a dick, or whatever the hell he wants to say about me, but if he wasn't so rude, he should probably say, 'Thank you for making me a lot of money.'"

It appears, though, the UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman will face Colby Covington who thrashed Robbie Lawler at UFC on ESPN 5.

So, who's next for Masvidal? Well, surging contender Leon Edwards wants a piece of the American Top Team-trained pupil, but the British welterweight has claimed Masvidal doesn't want it.

"The only fight that makes sense now is me and Masvidal, and that's the fight that I want," Edwards said.

"I spoke to the UFC. They want the fight. I want the fight. But Masvidal is turning the fight down. They say he doesn't want the fight, so I don't know. I'm just here. I'll be ready to go at the end of the year and hopefully get one of those fights.

"They're saying Masvidal said no, he doesn't want the fight. He's trying to outbid himself, saying he wants a stupid amount of money to fight. So I'm ready to go. I'm just waiting to see what happens, and so I'm looking forward to it. Hopefully we get the fight done."

However, Team Masvidal have denied the report.
