Khabib Nurmagomedov lost his cool with a journalist for asking about the death of his father.

Abdulmanap served as the UFC lightweight champion's trainer and he tragically died due to complications caused by coronavirus back in July, aged 57.

The Russian is set to return to action at UFC 254 against Justin Gaethje and when asked if his father's death has impacted training, he decided to hit back.

"I don't understand why you guys keep asking me this... what do you think?" he begun.

"I don't understand when people ask me 'how difficult for you to train without your father?'

"Of course this is difficult, I don't understand why you guys keep asking me this. This is very difficult.

"What do you think, do you have your father? If something happened with him, what do you think, it's going to be difficult for you or easy? I am human too, of course it is very difficult."

Ahead of his first fight in over a year, Khabib wasn't short in confidence and he told BT Sport that victory can be achieved inside four rounds.

"He's gonna be kickboxing and wrestling, like [a] mix, and my goal is to make him tired," he begun.

"I'm gonna make him tired and maybe in number three or round number four, my plan is to finish him."

Should Nurmagomedov come out on top against Gaethje, UFC president Dana White has a special plan for 'The Eagle.'

"Dana told me after this fight that he has something special for me," Nurmagomedov told MMAFighting.

"But I told him, please keep this, after fight we're going to talk. He say (he) has very big things after this fight for me. We'll see.

"Right now, I'm focused on Justin Gaethje.

"Justin is a very tough opponent, very tough guy. He follows his dream. He's very hungry. He just beat a very tough opponent. I don't want to underestimate him. I am focused on October 24."
