Conor McGregor's media company has asked fans who they'd like to see him fight in a UFC return - with his father liking the post.

McGregor announced his retirement from UFC last weekend and the announcement shocked fans across the world.

It's the third time the Irishman has announced his retirement in four years and 'The Mac Life', who are owned by McGregor Sports And Entertainment Limited, have already teased a potential return.

A post on Instagram read: If @thenotoriousmma was to come out of retirement, I would like to see him fight _____ next," which was then liked by Tony McGregor.

Many fans replied with Khabib Nurmagomedov, who the 31-year-old has a pre-existing rivalry with.

Some also stated they'd like to see him take on Jorge Masvidal or Kamaru Usman in the welterweight division.

McGregor explained his retirement to Ariel Helwani last week and bluntly stated the fight game 'does not excite him anymore'.

"The game just does not excite me, and that's that," the former 'Champ-champ' began.

"All this waiting around. There's nothing happening. I'm going through opponent options, and there's nothing really there at the minute. There's nothing that's exciting me.

"They should have just kept the ball rolling. I mean, why are they pushing [Khabib vs Justin Gaethje] back to September?

"You know what's going to happen in September, something else is going to happen in September, and that's not going to happen. I laid out a plan and a method that was the right move, the right methods to go with.

"And they always want to baulk at that and not make it happen or just drag it on. Whatever I say, they want to go against it to show some kind of power. They should have just done the fight - me and Justin for the interim title - and just kept the ball rolling."

McGregor had reportedly planned 2020 as 'a season' with three fights but he explained 'the buzz' is no longer there.

"I'm a bit bored of the game. I'm here watching the fight. I watched the last show - the [Tyrone] Woodley - [Gilbert] Burns show - I watched the show tonight.

"I'm just not excited about the game, Ariel. I don't know if it's no crowd. I don't know what it is. There's just no buzz for me."
