'The Notorious' will return to the Octagon in the main event of UFC 257 and take on former rival Dustin Poirier.

McGregor has been sharing training clips and images to social media ahead of the fight, but his latest one has fans incredibly excited.

Now 32-years-old, the Irishman is in his prime and shared a photo captioned: "Born for it!"

It's easy to see why many think McGregor is in the best shape of his life and why he promised a 'masterpiece' on January 23.

The Poirier fight will be his first at lightweight since being soundly beaten by Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229 in 2018.

"His diet consists of lean sources of protein: chicken, fish, salmon, beef, eggs," Tristin Kennedy told ESPN.

"Good complex carbohydrates. Good micro elements -- your herbs, basil, oregano. All these things are incorporated into the diet as a whole.

"We have a great balanced diet. From multiple protein sources, multiple carbohydrate sources of wholesome foods. And that's the key."

Both fighters have been friendly during the build up and Poirier told Theo Von he is envisioning a victory.

"I envision a lot of different things happening and the fight going different ways, but at the end I always envision me winning.

"Getting back on that long flight home with the win, come and see my daughter. That feels so good you know.

"Whatever it takes to make that a reality, I'm willing to do so let's just go."

"I mean, I don't wanna kill anybody. That's not a goal. I don't really wish that on anybody."

Von then says he shouldn't have really asked the question and both men let out an awkward chuckle before moving on.

Do you think Conor McGregor is in the best shape of his career?
