Khabib Nurmagomedov and Daniel Cormier got into a light-hearted argument over former UFC double champion Conor McGregor.

Nurmagomedov and Cormier had an argument over McGregor at their training base in San Jose.

ESPN MMA have shared a clip of Nurmagomedov getting riled up over Cormier's comments about McGregor on a UFC show with the lightweight champion even refusing to say the Irishman's name.

"You can't say his name," said Nurmagomedov. "Who?" Cormier responds.

"He doesn't deserve you to say his name," Nurmagomedov responded.

"Hey, listen to me. This guy [McGregor], this guy? This guy is important. You smashed this guy. But now, this guy? This guy's first double champion. This guy killed Eddie Alvarez," Cormier explained.

As Cormier listed McGregor's career achievements, Nurmagomedov walked away from Cormier who continued to tease him.

"Hey! Khabib. This guy [Conor McGregor] killed Alvarez!," Cormier added. "[He's got] 27 million Instagram followers."

Nurmagomedov then responded by hinting that McGregor has more social media followers than 27 million.

"More!?" said Cormier. "He's got more than 27? This guy killed Alvarez huh! So, let me ask you a question. Even though you don't like this guy, you respect that this guy does some good things?"

'DC' then praised Nurmagomedov's wrestling ability.

"I got him back dawg, he's back on my side! All you got to do is love Khabib and he comes back, reel him back in!"

Of course, McGregor is set to return to the UFC on January 18 when he faces Donald Cerrone in a welterweight bout at UFC 246.

McGregor has expressed his desire to stay active which includes three fights in 2020, with the 31-year-old eyeing a rematch against Nurmagomedov.

The Dagestan fighter, meanwhile, will defend his UFC lightweight title against No.1 contender Tony Ferguson in April at UFC 249.
