Jon Jones insists the "numbers don't lie" in response to Khabib Nurmagomedov's pound-for-pound push following his dominant victory at UFC 254.

Nurmagomedov defended his UFC lightweight title by submitting Justin Gaethje in the second round.

He walked away from the UFC after recording his 29th professional MMA victory and requested the No.1 spot in the UFC pound-for-pound rankings.

"There is only one thing I want from UFC, to put me as No 1 pound-for-pound fighter in the world because I deserve it," he said inside the Octagon following his win.

But current No.1 pound-for-pound fighter Jones refutes Nurmagomedov's request.

On Twitter, he wrote: "Until I take that heavily crown, I grant you the spot. Enjoy Champ."

In another tweet, he wrote: "15 world titles, numbers don't lie."

He continued: "I want to congratulate Khabib for an outstanding career. I know he made his father along with millions of fans around the world incredibly proud today. May God continue to bless him on his journey."

He added: "Definitely a powerful moment, but my logic is definitely not clouded."

'Bones' vacated his UFC light-heavyweight title and announced his move to the heavyweight division earlier this year.

He hasn't fought since his controversial points victory over Dominick Reyes at UFC 247 in February.

But Jones, who hasn't tasted defeat since his DQ loss to Matt Hamill in 2009, has teased a fight announcement.

"Stay Tuned," he replied when a fan asked him about his next fight.
