Legendary UFC announcer Bruce Buffer believes Georges St-Pierre could be the greatest MMA fighter of all time.

The Canadian superstar reigned supreme over the welterweight division for six years and beat everybody he stepped into the octagon with, including avenging two defeats.

And Buffer thinks GSP has earned his place alongside some MMA greats like Chuck Liddell and Jon Jones - and maybe even surpassed them.

Speaking to SPORTbible at a PokerStars event, he said: "I have been announcing for almost 24 years and announced everybody who has stepped into the octagon.

"When I look back at all the great fights and experiences I've had, Georges St-Pierre is up there as one of the best of all time.

"If you look at somebody who is not fighting any more that has completed their career, Chuck Liddell is one of the greatest.

"Then you look at Jon Jones who, like Conor McGregor if he keeps his head on straight and competes, aside from being one the greatest active mixed martial arts, could go down as the greatest of all time."

He added: "It's very hard to say who is the greatest because there's so many great fighters, but if you look at the active fighters, Amanda Nunes is probably the greatest of all time female fighter in the world and her stats show it."

Buffer is pleased to see Nunes finally gain recognition for her achievements in the octagon.

The 31-year-old Brazilian has seen off all challengers in the UFC bantamweight division, including Ronda Rousey, Cris Cyborg and Holly Holm.

"Ronda Rousey is one of the greatest for her achievement in bringing MMA to the forefront," Buffer said.

"You can't say she's the greatest because of her last two losses, but for what she did for the sport, she's up there.

"Amanda Nunes, who is her next fight? She's cleared out the whole division.

"I don't think she received recognition until her last fight and now she has it. It's impossible not to look at it and say she's the greatest female fighter of all time."

SPORTbible were talking to Bruce at PokerStars European Poker Tour Barcelona at Casino Barcelona in Spain.
