Mirko Cro Cop is famous for head kicks that brutally knock out opponents, but at UFC 70 Gabriel Gonzaga viciously gave him a taste of his own medicine.

Gonzaga turned the tables and delivered the most terrifying head kick knockout in UFC history back in 2007.

The legendary Croatian was expected to see off the Brazilian and book a shot at the UFC heavyweight title.

But 'Napao' sprung one of the GOAT out-of-nowhere upsets when he landed a kick flush on Cro Cop's head during their main-event clash.

The sound of the connection is sickening before Cro Cop crumples to the mat as he lays motionless on the floor, falling awkwardly on his ankle.

Joe Rogan's reaction in the commentary booth says it all. Savage.

Eight years after their first meeting in Manchester, the UFC booked the pair to headline an event in Poland.

And in the build-up, Cro Cop confessed: "It was one of the fights I will never forget, and I just want a rematch with him.

"I can't say I will beat him, but I will die trying. That's how I feel. I feel good right now. There are a few things I still want to do and definitely fighting Gabriel Gonzaga is one of them.

"I really believe that I'm a better fighter than Gabriel Gonzaga. I don't want to be a big mouth and I respect him. He's a great fighter. But I will do my best, definitely. He will do his best. We are going to perform a great show and the fans will be happy."

Cro Cop exacted revenge when he stopped Gonzaga at UFC Fight Night in 2015.

But his head kick defeat remains etched in the sport's storied history and might be the most popular moment in any MMA highlight reel.
