Tony Ferguson Sends Classy Message To Khabib Nurmagomedov After The Death Of His Father

Tony Ferguson has posted a classy message of condolence to long-time rival Khabib Nurmagomedov after the death of his father.

Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov tragically died aged 57 due to complications of COVID-19 on Friday.

The MMA community has been mourning the loss of Khabib's father and trainer, with Ferguson taking to social media to pay his respects.

"My Sincerest Condolences To You & Your Family @TeamKhabib Keep Your Spirits Up Buddy," he wrote on Twitter.

"Respect To Your Father Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov. He Will Be Front Row When We Hopefully Compete Someday."

Khabib and Ferguson have been matched to fight each other five times but the two fighters have never met inside the Octagon for one reason or another.

The Russian star's former foe Conor McGregor also offered his condolences on social media.

"The loss of a father, a coach, and a dedicated supporter of the sport. Condolences and rest in peace Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov," he wrote on Twitter.

Justin Gaethje, who's slated to fight the UFC lightweight champion next, said: "So heartbreaking to hear this news of the Legend Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov. I'm very sorry @TeamKhabib You're dad passed with a heart full of pride knowing you will carry on his legacy."

The unbeaten 31-year-old hasn't fought since his submission victory over Dustin Poirier at UFC 242 last September.

He was scheduled to defend his title against Ferguson at UFC 249 until the global pandemic forced him out of the main-event.

A fight between Khabib and UFC interim lightweight champion Gaethje is reportedly in the works for UFC 253 in September.
