16 days before he was beaten by Khabib Nurmagomedov in the fourth round, Conor McGregor made a rather bold prediction in the official UFC 229 press conference.

He may have been unbeaten in 26 professional bouts after claiming the strap in his last outing against Al Iaquinta, but the Irishman was convinced he would beat his Russian opponent convincingly.

"He's an amateur, would you believe he's 26-0? He's fought nobody. I'm going to pick him apart and maul him in there." McGregor boasted. "I'm going to truly love putting a beating on this little glass-jaw rat."

You can relieve this moment in the following clip on UFC's official YouTube channel, at the two minute mark:

Khabib was insulted on a number of occasions before the biggest fight in UFC history, but the Russian had the last laugh in Las Vegas on Saturday night.

After all the talk, Conor McGregor tapped at the end of round four after Nurmagomedov locked in one of his famous submission, retaining his lightweight crown.

It was a fight dominated by Khabib.

During the second round of the fight, the champion knocked 'Notorious' to the floor and went to town on him, shouting "Let's talk now" as he pummeled the Irish fighter. It was quite a sight.

The pair clearly exchanged words in the octagon throughout the bout and people think they've picked up what was said at the end of round three.

As the horn sounds at the end of the round with Khabib having McGregor clinched up against the fence, Conor appears to say in his ear, "It's only business",

It is believed Khabib then turns and yells, "Aye, I guess so!".

The fight may have been business to Conor, but it was clearly personal to Khabib, who later jumped the octagon and attacked McGregor's trainer, Dillon Danis.

People think this is the moment Conor tried to explain his actions, with some even saying it could be an apology.
