Former boxing world heavyweight champion Ray Mercer shocked the MMA world when he brutally knocked out ex-UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia in an MMA fight.
The highly-anticipated fight served as the main-event of Adrenaline MMA III: Bragging Rights in Alabama back in June 2009.

And the contest didn't last long as a sloppy kick by Sylvia led to a powerful right hand from Mercer who landed flush on his opponent's chin to end the fight in just nine seconds.
Sylvia's 6ft 8in frame collapsed to the canvas as Mercer landed another destructive blow before the referee halted the bout.
While the bout was intended to be a boxing match, regulation challenges from the Association of Boxing Commissions forced the promotion to change the clash to a MMA fight.
Speaking shortly after his victory, Mercer said that MMA fighters feared him because of his nine second thrashing of Sylvia.

"I'm willing to take anything that's offered to me, you know. But those MMA guys, they don't seem to want to fight me," he said.
"I don't get it. I thought they had heart, and yet they won't fight me and I'm nearly 50-years old, man!
"I definitely don't think those guys should be messing around with boxers. We'll KO them because they don't have the heart we do. It kills me how none of those guys want to fight me now."
Mercer made a big splash when he beat Sylvia, but he didn't compete in another MMA bout after his spectacular debut.
