Returning boxing legend Mike Tyson believes Conor McGregor will "never" beat UFC lightweight champion and arch rival Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Nurmagomedov submitted McGregor in the fourth round of their highly-charged UFC title bout at UFC 229 in October 2018.

A blockbuster rematch has since been mooted, but Tyson doesn't like McGregor's chances against Nurmagomedov.

The 54-year-old continued by hailing the Irishman as a "promotional genius" though says he wouldn't be able to beat the undefeated superstar if they fought 10 times.

"Listen, I think Conor McGregor, he's a promotional genius," he told Parimatch.

"Khabib beat him, right? But they still want the fight! People still want to see him fight Khabib.

"He's not going to beat Khabib. He's gonna never beat Khabib. But people are still going to pay to see him fight Khabib."

Tyson added: "Khabib is going to get more money beating this guy that he knows he can beat, than he would ever get in a competitive fight against a guy that's capable of beating him.

"So, why not fight him 10 times? People will pay to see him fight 10 times, to see him lose 10 times. Now that's marketing, millions, billions. He's a genius, you can't take that away."

Nurmagomedov has only fought once since beating McGregor - a submission victory over Dustin Poirier at UFC 242 last September.

McGregor, on the other hand, made a triumphant UFC comeback when he destroyed Donald Cerrone at UFC 246.

Meanwhile, Nurmagomedov is set to return to action against Justin Gaethje later this year while McGregor has walked away from the UFC after calling time on his career.
