Khabib Nurmagomedov's manager has revealed that the UFC star was offered $100 million to fight Floyd Mayweather - and that Dana White was "on board" with the plan.

However Ali Abdelaziz, Khabib's long-time manager, outlined the nature of the proposal and explained why 'The Eagle' has never accepted a fight which would net him a record payday.

"Listen, we got offered $100million to fight Floyd Mayweather," Abdelaziz told TMZ Sports.

"Dana White was on board, everybody was on board. But, you know, Khabib is an MMA fighter.

"If Floyd wanted to come to fight [in mixed martial arts], get his little ass whooped, no problem."

Abdelaziz is clearly implying that any offer to fight Mayweather has involved a straight-up boxing match. It makes sense that Nurmagomedov would have no interest in that, given wrestling is his key strength rather than striking.

Mayweather officially retired after taking his boxing record to 50-0 when he stopped another UFC star, Conor McGregor, in 2017. However he's engaged in exhibition bouts since, including his upcoming 'special attraction' against YouTuber Logan Paul in February.

It also makes sense that White would - in theory - be on board for a Khabib vs Mayweather fight. The UFC president was part of the promotional team for Mayweather vs McGregor when it took place.

Nurmagomedov, however, made his surprise retirement inside the Octagon in October after he submitted Justin Gaethje to take his record to 29-0.

Abdelaziz revealed in the build-up to UFC 254 that his fighter was continually being offered a Mayweather fight. He told Yahoo! Sports: "Every month people call me and they ask me, 'You going to fight with Floyd Mayweather if we pay you $100 million?'

"It's like crazy. I want to be focused on Justin Gaethje, please.

"Every month, some people from Saudi Arabia, from Emirates, from a lot of countries, like always try to make contract with me."

It seems the offers for a Khabib vs Mayweather fight might never go away.

But both fighters are now officially retired - and the Russian stepping inside a boxing ring seems just as unlikely as 'Money Mayweather' engaging in an MMA contest.

So even $100 million and the blessing of Dana White are highly unlikely to make this dream fight become a reality.
