A fan has uploaded a clip of Ben Askren's striking after accepting to fight Jake Paul and it doesn't make for great viewing.

Former UFC star Askren took to social media to accept Paul's call out, saying he plans to humble him if they meet.

But some MMA fans aren't convinced with his chances against the YouTuber in a boxing ring.

A Twitter user shared his disbelief at Paul potentially luring Askren out of retirement by posting a clip of his stand-up skills in his last UFC bout.

Naturally, the 36-year-old's striking against Demian Maia sent social media into overdrive.

One wrote: "I'm gonna dread hearing Jake Paul bragging about how he beat a professional MMA fighter in boxing."

A second tweeted: "It's such a smart move from Jake a former UFC Fighter that hasn't got the worst record and a decent amount of respect however his boxing just isn't there and for him to then get him to box gets all of the MMA and Boxing community involved into this fight, Jake could be favourite."

A third added: "And that was against someone whos striking is just as bad."

Askren went 1-2 in the UFC after a prolific run outside of the famed Octagon, claiming titles in Bellator and ONE Championship.

But he failed to make an impact in the UFC, losing to Jorge Masvidal and Maia before walking away from MMA.

Though it appears he'll lace up the gloves again - but in the form of a pair of boxing gloves.

In response to Paul's challenge, Askren said: "Yes, Mr. Jake Paul, I do accept.

"I know you called me out after that last fight against that bum Nate Robinson. And listen, it's a pretty simple choice. I'm going to make a whole bunch of money to beat up a guy who is pretending to be an athlete.

"Because at the end of the day, that's what you're doing. I know you may think I don't have too many standup skills. Also at the end of the day, I don't really need to."

He added: "I'm a world-class athlete, I've won NCAA titles, I've been in the Olympics, I've won belts in multiple mixed martial arts organizations. And quite frankly, I am impressed that you've deluded yourself into thinking you're a fighter!

"That you are really tough, that you can really box. It's really quite impressive that beating up another YouTuber and beating up a boxer who has never been in the ring before makes you somehow good at boxing because it doesn't. So yes, Jake, I accept. I will see you on March 28 in Los Angeles, and I will humble you like millions of people want to see happen."

Paul most recently fought Nate Robinson on the undercard of Mike Tyson's comeback, brutally knocking out the former NBA player.
