Overnight Conor McGregor handed himself in to New York police and remains in custody following the incident after the press conference for UFC 223 where McGregor attacked a bus with UFC fighters on it.

Last night Conor McGregor caused a huge stir as he was videos arriving at the Barclays Centre in Brooklyn and causing absolute chaos after the UFC 223 press conference for Saturday's ights.

The event features Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Max Holloway as the main event for the lightweight title previously held by McGregor before Dana White confirmed yesterday that he was to be stripped of it.

Whilst that didn't exactly please the Irishman his outburst is led to have stemmed from reports that Khabib and members of his team cornered Artem Lobov, a member of McGregor's team.

Several hours after the incident McGregor handed himself into the 78th precinct of the New York police department.

If only he'd handed himself into the 99th...

TMZ report that the 29 year old has been charged with 2 counts of misdemeanor assault and one count of felony criminal mischief.

One of the assault charges is in relation to an injury that was caused to Michael Chiesa when McGregor threw something at the bus and Chiesa's fight with Anthony Pettis has now been called off due to the injury.

The other assault charge is in relation to someone that McGregor is reported to have hit in the melee.

Lobov's fight on the card has been cancelled for his part in the incident and a third fight, Ray Borg vs Brandon Moreno, has also been taken off the card because of an injury sustained by Borg after shards of glass cut his face.

The whole incident is a horrible stain on what was building up to be a great weekend of sport.
