Khabib Nurmagomedov Secured A Whopping $6m Pay Package From UFC 242 Clash

Khabib Nurmagomedov Secured A Whopping $6m Pay Package From UFC 242 Clash

Khabib Nurmagomedov pocketed a mammoth $6m for his UFC lightweight championship defence against Dustin Poirier at UFC 242, according to stunning reports.

The 30-year-old Russian star beat Poirier, 30, by locking in a rear-naked chokehold and successfully unified the UFC lightweight division.

According to the Sports Daily, the pay packages for UFC fighters from the UFC 242 card have been worked out based on their past figures.

And Khabib, unsurprisingly, topped the pile with his hefty pay of $6,090,000m for the epic clash with Poirier.

The Sports Daily claims that the Dagestan superstar was offered $6m to show up, $40,000 for fight week incentive pay and $50,000 for performance bonuses on the night.

Poirier's cash prize fell way short of Khabib's incredible pay package as he collected $290,000 in total, which consisted of $250,000 for turning up and $40,000 for a fight week incentive pay.

Khabib's father, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, had said ahead of the fight that the 'Eagle' would make "3 to 3.5 [times] more [than the Conor McGregor fight]."

Following on from the aftermath of UFC 242, Khabib and UFC president Dana White said that they would donate money to Poirier's Good Fight Foundation.
