Justin Bieber vs Tom Cruise inside the Octagon might actually be happening under the UFC banner.

The Canadian singer made the challenge to the Mission Impossible star before then backtracking, saying "Man I was just playing, it was just a random tweet I'm pretty sure Tom would probably whoop my ass in a fight."

But it seems as though the 14-time Guinness World Record holder is doing a u-turn on a u-turn, with the latest from TMZ being that that Bieber has 'agreed' to the fight as long as Cruise, 31 years his elder, is also onboard.

The American outlet say that Ari Emanuel, the co-CEO of the William Morris Endeavor Agency which owns UFC, arranged a call with Bieber's manager Scooter Braun and brought UFC President Dana White into the conference.

It's claimed that Emanuel spoke of how he felt he needed to make the fight happen - with White adding he is "100%" down with it".

Meanwhile Braun, who also represents the likes of Ariana Grande and Demi Lovato, stressed that his client would be all in to throw down if Cruise is too. Emanuel is confident that the three-time Golden Globe winner would be up for it.

UFC supremo White, always looking for what is best for business, has already admitted his interest.

Speaking to Guerilla Cross Radio, the UFC matchmaker said: "I didn't know if it was real or not. I still don't know if it's real. Everybody is talking about it, but Justin hasn't contacted me.

"Listen, first of all, maybe Justin Bieber wants to fight Tom Cruise for whatever reason. I highly doubt Tom Cruise wants to fight Justin Bieber. I'm 50, I think Tom Cruise is 56.

"I don't think anyone who's 56 is looking to fight anybody.

"But I'll tell you this, if Justin Bieber wants to fight Tom Cruise, and Tom Cruise wants to fight Justin Bieber, we can talk."

Then, in a separate interview, Whyte went as far as saying that he would be "an idiot to not make "the easiest fight to ever promote" in his career.

"Let me tell you what, I'd be an idiot not to make this fight," he told TMZ.

"That would be the easiest fight to ever promote in the history of my career."
