Herbert Burns suffered a truly gruesome foot injury in his win at UFC 250 on Saturday.

Burns tapped out Evan Dunham in two minutes in their catchweight bout on the prelims despite catching his left foot on the cage.

UFC colour commentator Joe Rogan picked up on it and Burns confirmed the injury when interviewed after his impressive victory.

"My foot is really bleeding," Burns said.

"I think when I tried to push him against the cage, my left foot went through the cage and caused a huge cut. I'm bleeding, but I'll be fine."

Images of the nasty cut before and after Burns got stitches have emerged courtesy of UFC Consultant Physician Dr. Greg Hsu and it looks seriously painful.

'The Blaze' deserves a whole lot of credit for picking up the win with such a deep gash and made it a second win for the Burns family inside the Octagon in the last week after older brother Gilbert beat Tyron Woodley in the main event of UFC Fight Night.

He doesn't anticipate being on the sidelines for long, however and wants to get in on UFC's 'Fight Island' in Abu Dhabi - with two potential opponents in mind.

"A Burns likes to stay busy - I'm no different from that. So (I just want to) heal this cut and heal my foot, and I want to get back soon," he said, as per MMA Junkie.

"I want to fight on the 'FIght Island.' We already know the location now in Abu Dhabi, so that's the plan - fight against soon, and hopefully against a good guy: Bryce Mitchell or Ryan Hall. Those guys are on my radar - two grapplers."
