A YouTuber has offered a sneak peek at a Justin Gaethje vs Khabib Nurmagomedov showdown by simulating the clash on EA Sports UFC 3.

Gaethje, 31, put on a dazzling display against Tony Ferguson at UFC 249 on Saturday and successfully captured the interim lightweight championship.

And now attention has shifted to the 'Highlight' facing off against Khabib for the lightweight championship.

YouTuber MMA Fights used UFC 3 to simulate what would happen when Khabib and Gaethje stepped into the octagon together.

The simulation has Gaethje landing shots on Khabib in the early stages before the 'Eagle' attempted to sweep him off his feet by going for his legs with a takedown.

However, Gaethje successfully managed to counter the grapple by taking Khabib to the mat and connecting with an elbow to the face.

But Khabib wasted no time in breaking free from the grapple and climbed back to his feet, pushing Gaethje into the cage as he attempted another takedown.

Gaethje was unable to hold Khabib off and was lifted into the air and slammed onto the mat, with the 'Eagle' climbing on top of him and repeatedly striking him in the face.

Khabib manages to deliver a brutal strike to the face and subsequently KO'd Gaethje in the first round of the fight.

Gaethje, who stopped Ferguson in the fifth round at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena, threw the interim title to the floor and sent out a clear message to Khabib after the fight.

The UFC star said: "I'll wait for the real one. I knew I was a killer stepping in here, I'm good, bro.

"No better drug on Earth, adrenaline coursing through my veins. This is hard work, I've worked since I was four years old.

"I have a world-class coach, I had to lose to change, you can't fix what's not broken.

"Once I understood what was wrong. I was getting hit too much, and I was having too much fun.

"Both times I lost I became complacent because I was having so much fun and at this level you absolutely cannot do that, I was fighting the best in the world.

"Khabib is the best in the world, I've been working since I was four for challenges like this.

"I'm happy to represent the United States of America against Russia's best. He's 28-0 and there's no other challenge I want right now, I want to fight him."

Khabib, who was initially scheduled to face Ferguson last month, praised Gaethje for his "impressive" performance against 'El Cucuy.'
