Donald Cerrone is poised to make significantly less than Conor McGregor for the UFC 246 main event this evening, much to the frustration of many fight fans.

According to figures from the Nevada State Athletic Commission, that McGregor will receive a cool $3 million fight purse irrespective of the result in his comeback fight, while Cerrone is set to be paid $200,000 just for turning up and a further $200,000 if he manages to beat 'The Notorious' in Las Vegas.

The huge gulf in paychecks has caused a huge stir on social media:

It's worth noting that these are the disclosed figures and there are still pay-per-view sales to factor in, therefore meaning 'Cowboy' could still be on course to receive his first ever seven-figure purse from fighting.

The 36-year old veteran has already heaped praise on McGregor for helping his bank balance increased significantly, so maybe 'red panty night' is actually a thing.

"I re-did my contract so thanks Conor, appreciate that," Cerrone said, as per The Mirror.

"Moving forward my next six fights are all money fights, not just this one.

"We did a contract for all of them, I'm stoked, happy to be here and to get the respect this old dinosaur deserves for being here.

"I've been in the sport a long time and I deserve the respect I get and it's cool to see Conor finally giving it to me."

According to reports, Cerrone has pocketed a total of $6,144,800 across his time with World Extreme Cagefighting and UFC.

McGregor, meanwhile, has estimated he will earn $80 million (£60 million) overall from his return fight and believes he will be a billionaire by the time he turns 35.
