A crazy double knockdown took place inside the Octagon in Portugal's ECE promotion over the weekend.

Eder Lopes and Diogo Neves mixed it in a bout shown on Enfusion TV and footage of the finish to their fight has been doing the rounds on social media.

At the very same moment, the pair both connect with huge left hooks and ended up falling down to the canvas. But it's Lopes who had the stronger chin/heavier hit as he just about manages to make his way back to up his feet, while Neves was out for the count.

After the wild sequence Lopes was then awarded the knockout victory, with Neves needing to be attended to by medical staff.

Double knockdowns in MMA are a bit of a rarity but a similar situation did occur in the Bellator bout between Matt Mitrione and Fedor Emelianenko in 2017.

Both collided with strikes and fell simultaneously but Mitrione reacted quickly by jumping on his opponent on the canvas and pounding him with punches for the win.

Another example of both fighters producing the very same manoeuver came at UFC Fight Night 159 in Mexico City when Steven Peterson and Martin Bravo both attempted spinning backfists in stereo.

Bravo goes for it first, only for Peterson to counter in phenomenal fashion with an better version of the move - catching the Mexican right on the money and putting him on the deck.

Peterson moved to 18-9 in MMA and admitted it was the best knockout he had ever produced.

"There was "(That was my best knockout), 100 percent," Peterson told MMA Junkie post-fight at Mexico City Arena. "I've never had an out-cold knockout in my MMA career of 26 pro fights."
