UFC president Dana White says Nate Diaz will "definitely" fight again inside the Octagon amid rumours of a huge showdown against Conor McGregor and Jorge Masvidal.

Diaz hasn't fought since his stoppage defeat to Masvidal for the BMF title at UFC 244 last November.

But White believes the Stockton slugger will return to action though he doesn't know when he'll compete.

"Oh, definitely. Definitely," the UFC boss said about a potential return for Diaz. "I think Nate will fight (in the UFC) again."

Diaz is no stranger to long spells away from MMA as there were three years between his loss to Conor McGregor in 2016 and his win over Anthony Pettis last August.

The 35-year-old has been recently linked with fights against McGregor and Masvidal with Dustin Poirier also eyeing a clash against the UFC fan favourite.

"The Diaz fight is always going to be interesting to me," Poirier explained.

"Not just because it's a money fight, but because Diaz is a guy who I grew up watching and a guy who I'm a fan of his style. Anytime he fights, I'm tuning in. Those are the kind of guys I want to fight."

Poirier, who's fresh off a victory against Dan Hooker, was supposed to face Diaz at UFC 230 in November 2018 before injury forced him out of the bout. The contest was never rescheduled.

Though it appears the lightweight star is angling for a fight against Diaz as he took to social media to respond to the Diaz comeback rumours.
