Dan Hooker showed off his battle scars after his absolute war of a lightweight main event with Dustin Poirier last night.

The two left it all in the Octagon at UFC Apex facility in Las Vegas, with both bloodied, battered and bruised after five rounds of non-stop, wild exchanges.

Poirier took the unanimous decision victory, with the judges scoring the contest 48-47, 48-47 and 48-46 in his favour despite him losing the first two rounds.

Unsurprisingly, the pair took home an extra $50,000 'Fight of the Night' bonus and 'The Hangman' Hooker showed just how much punishment he took in the slugfest with a post-fight video after he had returned from hospital.

With his face heavily cut and bruised, along with his nose and lip busted, the New Zealander thanked fans for the support and congratulated Poirier on his victory.

"Hey everyone, just back at the hotel with the lads," Hooker said.

"Having a feedt, just got checked out of the hospital, everything is all good, just a couple of stitches on the eye.

"But hey, that's the game the game we play, no worries. Just a small setback and then I'll be back."

Poirier also headed to hospital to get checked up on his injuries and the two will now find out the length of their medical suspensions in the coming days.

A bout with Tony Ferguson has been mooted but 'The Diamond' just wants to rest up for the for now.
