When Khabib Nurmagomedov went live on Instagram, there was a very interesting person in the comments wanting to join.

It was, of course, his arch-rival Conor McGregor, who fancied going back and forth with the UFC lightweight champion on the stream.

McGregor wrote: "Add me in" on the comment section, though Khabib refrained from doing so for obvious reasons.

However, McGregor did go after both Khabib and Tony Ferguson on Twitter after their UFC 249 bout was postponed for a fifth time - the second of which was on April Fools' day - following on from the champion being stuck in Russia.

He claimed the two men who were meant to compete on April 18 were playing a game of chicken.

Back in January, 'Mystic Mac' had actually predicted that there would be another cancellation for the cursed Khabib-Ferguson bout.

UFC president Dana White told TMZ per MMA Junkie back at the start of the year: "Here's the thing - realistically, Conor believes that Khabib vs. Tony Ferguson will not happen.

"We've tried to do this fight many, many times. Conor believes it won't happen.

"Conor wanted to do this [Donald Cerrone at UFC 246] fight at 170 because he wants to turn right around and jump right in and fight Khabib if that fight doesn't happen."

No-one could have foreseen the circumstances that would cause the latest pull-out but McGregor was certainly right. Although there's next to no chance of McGregor and Ferguson squaring off in the rearranged bout.

Having been certain that the fight would happen, UFC president Dana White must be absolutely ruined at the moment.
