Conor McGregor has once again laid into Khabib Nurmagomedov after the Russian made a prediction of what will happen to Justin Gaethje at UFC 254.

The lightweight title unification bout has been set for October 24 as the undefeated Khabib looks to move to 29-0 in MMA following a lengthy lay-off.

Despite his respect for the interim champion, who earned a shot at his championship courtesy of a stunning win over Tony Ferguson at UFC 249 in May, 'The Eagle' provided a chilling description of how he plans to beat Gaethje inside the Octagon.

He took to Instagram to lay out his strategy but McGregor, who lost to Khabib via submission at UFC 229 before all hell broke loose in Las Vegas, weighed in with his own thoughts on his rival's approach via Twitter.

While never one to trade punches, Khabib's grappling game is unparallelled and has seen him dominate opponents left right and centre, including McGregor in October 2018.

Even though McGregor doesn't like it, he won't be changing his style at all for the bout with Gaethje, who is coming in off arguably the best performance of his career so far.

In June, McGregor said UFC should have made him vs Gaethje when Khabib vs Ferguson had to be nixed again as he revealed the reasons behind his retirement from the sport.

Through manager Ali Abdelaziz, who represents both men, Khabib had actually told Gaethje to take on McGregor - though 'The Highlight was not keen on the suggestion in the slightest.

He told TMZ Sports: "Justin said no, Khabib told me to tell Justin to go fight Conor, Justin said no.

"Listen, we dictate this, Conor right now, he can be a back-up fighter, he can go make win, he can maybe make some money.

"He's [McGregor] not even number three, he's number four or five.

"Conor he can go fight [Jorge] Masvidal, we have no interest in fighting him, he needs to get some wins, he needs to fight some good opponents."
